Welsh Athletics and the college are working in partnership to create a Regional Development Programme (RDP) for endurance athletes. The programme will cater for club, regional and international performers. Each athlete will undertake laboratory sports science testing at Cardiff Metropolitan university. This data is fed back and presented by Steve Mitchell to the athlete, college staff and the athletes coaches. The lab reports provide accurate and objective date to help tailor each individuals needs.

There are no restrictions on accessing this provision. Field based tests are done on guided learning days where they get high performance support and education from Welsh Athletics and the Cardiff Metropolitan University Sports Science team.
College based training and programming will occur in the college fitness suite, and laboratory testing and field testing protocols will take place in Cardiff Metropolitan University.
The coaching programme is a multi-agency team consisting of strength and conditioning experts actively working in the college. Externally athletes will have contact with Welsh Athletics coaches and support staff at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Players will compete in the Welsh Colleges regional leagues, and the AOC national cup competitions. Additional friendlies and tournaments are encompassed in addition to league matches to give players regular playing opportunities.
